MFL Key Stage 3

In Year 7 students receive a firm FOUNDATION in what will be for most their first year of foreign language learning.

Students will learn through speaking, reading, listening and writing activities. Topic areas include:-

1. self

2. family

3. friends

4. school life

5. leisure

 

 

In Year 8 the objectives reflect this secure start and promote ACCELERATION in language acquisition. Topic areas include:

1. house and home

2. holidays and near future tense

3. food and drink

4. shopping.

In Year 9 the objectives are designed to promote students’ INDEPENDENCE as language learners. Topic areas include:-

1. Paris and its monuments

2. travel and accommodation

3. the past, the present, the future

4. the world of work.

An average student is expected to achieve National Curriculum level 5/6 at the end of Key Stage 3.
